ON THE RACING FRONT!
UK: Ascot To Run International Hurdle:
Wednesday, 17 December 2008: The International Hurdle, postponed when Cheltenham was waterlogged, will now be run at Ascot on Saturday.
It will be among three top hurdle contests on a seven-race card and could feature 2009 Champion Hurdle winner Katchit.
Leon Blanche, spokesman for sponsors Boylesports, said: "This could be the greatest day's hurdling ever seen."
"We'd like to thank Ascot for working so closely with us, as well as the British Horseracing Authority and the other main sponsors during this difficult time.
"We were so disappointed that Saturday's meeting was called off, but we have done our utmost to ensure trainers, connections and punters don't miss out on what is sure to be an outstanding race.
"We are happy to offer the full prize money, as well as the £200,000 bonus for any horse who wins our race and goes on to win the Champion Hurdle at the Festival."
The original nine-strong International field had included last season's Champion Hurdle winner Katchit and Binocular, the current ante-post favourite for next March's renewal.
