Einstein Proves Smart Choice in Woodford
:
In his third try, the Helen Pitts-trained Einstein went to the head of the class in the $548,300 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic (gr. IT) (VIDEO) May 3 at Churchill Downs.
“He’s very versatile," Pitts said. "You can run him short, and you can run him long. He adjusts to pace, no pace. Whatever the situation is, he deals with it. He’s the love of my life.”
The 2-1 favorite, Einstein, owned by Patricia Cunningham and Melissa Greene and ridden by Robby Albarado, had to re-rally in the stretch after falling back a bit headed to the far turn of the 1 1/8-mile test. He opened up by two lengths at the eighth pole and was in control with a measured one-length victory over Out of Control.
For his effort, which earned his connections $333,149, the multiple grade I winner Einstein went over the $1 million mark in career earnings.

Boundless On Her Way
New Zealand Oaks winner Boundless will be in Australia later tonight ahead of her Group 1 AJC Oaks assignment at Randwick next Wednesday.
The Steve McKee-trained filly is due to leave New Zealand early this evening and will touch down sometime tonight.
The top class Kiwi filly is touted as a serious contender to end Zarita's winning run following her Group 1 New Zealand Oaks (2400m) win at Trentham last month and her last start performance against older horses over 2100m at Ellerslie where she covered ground but ran right away from her rivals to win by four lengths.
Boundless will attempt to emulate Domino, the last filly to win the NZ-AJC Oaks double in 1990.

UK: New Approach On Course For Guineas :
Trainer Jim Bolger today expressed his confidence ahead of ante-post favourite New Approach's bid for Classic glory in the stanjamesuk.com 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on Saturday, May 3.
The Galileo colt - who will race in the colours of Princess Haya of Jordan this season - was paraded at Bolger's Coolcullen stables in Co Carlow, Ireland, this morning at a media event organised by Newmarket Racecourses and big-race sponsor Stan James.
"I'm very confident in the horse's ability and couldn't be happier with him," said Bolger. "Everything about the horse suggests he's exceptional and he just has to do another two spins and I'm happy that he's on target.
